I got this book yesterday and OMG I WANT TO DRAW OBNOXIOUS SPARKLE HEARTS AND TECHNICOLOR SQUIGGLES ON THIS PICTURE OR SOMETHING BECAUSE THIS BOOK IS A FLIPPING DREAM COME TRUE. Not only is it about Katharine Hepburn — my favorite actress in the history of forever — it features essays on the adventurous, outspoken redhead, particularly her influence on the fashion of the times. The accompany photos, many of them full-page, are gorgeous and have never before been published. Like I said, dream come true.
To be honest, I haven’t paid too much attention to the essays — I’ve been too distracted by all the beautiful photos — but I will eventually read all five. I can say, though, at this point that of the ones that I have gleaned through, I’ve enjoyed them. I found them informative and balanced — neither fangirly or scornful — and well-written overall.
