HAPPY FRIDAY: Return to normalcy

Happy Friday! This week, I bought this tie, and this book, and this book too but at an amazing discount at a second-hand store. I also got super excited over this cool young lady, as well as picked out what I’ll be wearing in honor of the Olympic opening ceremony two weeks from now. There was also some helping out at VBS, which was a wonderful experience. There’s nothing quite so precious as interactions with bright and energetic children, and nothing quite as satisfying as seeing the final product of months of planning and preparatory craftsing.

This weekend, I’m looking forward to a friendly get-together, and some much-needed housecleaning. Oh, and returning to the normal routines of life.

♥ What do you think about Team USA’s uniforms for the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies? Personally, I like ’em!

♥ The Olympic kits for Team Great Britain (Stella McCartney for Adidas) and Team Italy (Giorgio Armani) have also been released. Not too crazy over Italy’s, to be honest, but I really like Britain’s.

♥ This year’s GQ Rules series offers good & very practical tips for gents on how to dress well in the summer heat.

Hiromi – “Place To Be”

Whenever I listen to this piece, I am impressed by how personal and emotional it is. Between the delicate plinking that bookends the composition, and the powerful swells in between, I hear insecurity, a sense of wandering & wondering, and an epiphany both liberating and bittersweet. And it moves me to near tears.

Readers – What have you got planned for this weekend? What has inspired or moved you this week?
